Making a query faster

While preparing for the 70-451 exam I took a look at a stored procedure at a client's server that was performing poorly. This client is in the process of upgrading from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008 and they now also wanted to improve this stored procedure.

Error when changing the collation of a database

Recently I had to change the collation of a database. That resulted in an error message: The database could not be exclusively locked to perform the operation.

Delete Maintance Plan without SSIS installed

Today I ran into an interesting problem. I wanted to delete a Maintenance Plan on a server that had SQL Server reinstalled without SSIS (Integration Services). (I was not responsible for this reinstallation...).
